Everyday Story House

Editorial policy

Everyday Story House aims for writing that is attentive, clear and honest about what it knows. We check factual claims against suitable sources when a piece needs them, distinguish remembered experience from verifiable detail, and correct meaningful errors when they are brought to our attention.

Accuracy and memory

Personal recollection can be vivid without being complete. We treat memories as accounts of experience, not automatic proof of every surrounding detail. When a story includes claims that can be checked, we seek reliable support and make the basis of those claims clear. We do not invent quotations, events or personal histories to make a story neater.

Independence

Editorial choices are made for their fit with the publication and its readers. A partnership does not buy favourable coverage or editorial control. If a contributor has a relevant interest in a subject, that connection should be disclosed so readers can understand the context.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error or an unclear attribution, contact us through the Contact page and describe the passage and the issue. We review correction requests and amend confirmed errors with care. We do not change a piece merely because someone dislikes a fair opinion or an accurately described experience.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid collaborations and partner placements are clearly labelled wherever they appear, so readers can distinguish them from editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when an illustration is AI-generated, we identify it as such. Illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence.

What we believe

The ordinary is never quite ordinary

A chipped mug, a familiar walk, the pause before a door opens: small details can hold more than they first let on. We look closely without insisting every moment needs a grand meaning.
